Summary
Whilst being transferred to a psychiatric hospital, a ruthless serial-killer Gassot makes
a break and goes on the run. He arrives in Marseilles, intending to escape abroad.
Here, he falls for a young prostitute, Gerda, whom he takes to Paris, having disposed
of her entourage. An ageing police commissioner, Le Guen, is assigned to track down
and arrest Gassot. Since Le Guen was the man who arrested Gassot in the first place,
he would appear to be the best man to recapture him. However, his superior, Tellier,
disapproves of his brutal methods...
