Summary
A wealthy nougat manufacturer, Fernand Sarrazin, saves a young girl, Cécilia,
from drowning. In her gratitude, Cécilia falls in love with him and, despite
the difference in their ages, the two get married. The union does not please Fernand’s
sister-in-law, Julie, who intends to separate the happy couple. She contrives for
Cécilia to meet and fall in love with a young pianist, Jean...
Review
This lesser known Fernandel comedy features the great French comic hero in one of his
most poignant roles. The fragility of the May to September love affair is beautifully
characterised, with enchanting performances from Fernandel and Nicole Berger, although
it is perhaps Claude Nollier’s portrayal of the sharp-tongued and manipulative sister-in-law
who steals the show.
