Review
During his turbulent years as a film critic in the early 1950s, François Truffaut had a constant hankering to make a film of his own.  After a number of false starts, he finally achieved his dream towards the end of 1954.  With the support of his friend Jacques Rivette, he obtained some film and a camera and made his first film, Une visite .

Although the film was well made, given its small budget, Truffaut was disappointed with the final result.  He discarded the only print of the film and it remained forgotten until it was unearthed from a cupboard in 1982.  On recovering the lost film, Truffaut’s initial inclination was to destroy it.  However, instead, he gave it away as a souvenir to the mother of Florence Doniol-Valcroze, the little girl who appeared in the film.
